Seller policy

Seller policy

Welcome to Peo Vee's marketplace, hereafter Remnants. We’re excited to have you as part of our seller community. This policy outlines important guidelines and responsibilities for selling on Remnants. Please review these terms carefully to understand our expectations and your obligations as a seller.

1. Seller Responsibilities
As a seller on Remnants, you agree to:

  • Accurately Represent Your Products: All product listings should be complete, accurate, and include clear descriptions and photos. Any materials, processes, or other relevant product details that may impact buyer decisions should be disclosed.
  • Fulfill Orders Promptly: Once an order is placed, it’s your responsibility to package and ship the item(s) in a timely manner, ideally within 1-3 business days. You are also responsible for providing tracking information when available and for communicating promptly with buyers about any delays.
  • Comply with Local Regulations: You are responsible for ensuring that your products meet all applicable laws and regulations, including labeling and safety requirements, in both your region and the regions where you ship.

2. Tax Collection & Remittance
Remnants will handle sales tax collection and remittance for transactions where marketplace facilitator laws apply, including orders shipped to California customers.

  • California Orders: As a California-based marketplace, we are required to collect and remit sales tax for sales shipped to California buyers. This tax will be automatically added to orders at checkout, and we will remit it directly to the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA).
  • Out-of-State Orders: Sellers are responsible for understanding and managing their own tax obligations for sales shipped to states that may require seller-collected tax. We recommend consulting a tax professional if you have questions about your tax responsibilities outside of California.

3. Listing Fees and Payment Terms

  • Listing Commission: Remnants charges a commission of 10% on the transaction total (excluding tax), which is deducted at the time of payment processing.
  • Seller Payments: Payments from buyers will be processed through our payment gateway, and funds will be disbursed to your account after deducting applicable fees. Payment disbursements are typically made automatically on the 14th of each month to include sales from the prior month. Ex. Sellers will receive their November payout on the 14th of December.

4. Dispute Resolution and Returns

  • Handling Returns and Refunds: Sellers take on the responsibility of clearly communicating item condition and any damage, wear or tear in each listing. Remnants has an all sales final policy sitewide. In the event of a dispute, Remnants will connect buyers to vendors for resolution via email, and track the status of disputes with vendors. Peo Vee reserves the right to mediate between the buyer and seller when necessary.
  • Buyer Communication: In cases of order issues, sellers are expected to work directly with buyers to resolve any concerns related to the product, shipping, or returns.
  • Multiple Disputes: Sellers who are unreachable for dispute resolution, or who have multiple unresolved disputes may be removed from the platform.

5. Income Reporting and Tax Documentation
As a multi-vendor marketplace, we are committed to maintaining compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations. To support our sellers and fulfill our obligations, we have outlined our income reporting and tax documentation requirements below:

  • Submission of Form W-9: To facilitate accurate tax reporting, all sellers are required to provide a completed Form W-9 after registration and before any payments are disbursed. This ensures that we have the necessary information, including your legal name, business name (if applicable), address, and Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).
    • Why We Collect a W-9: The W-9 form allows us to verify your identity and comply with IRS regulations for reporting income.
    • How to Submit: You will be prompted to complete and upload your Form W-9 during the onboarding process. Failure to provide this form may result in delays or restrictions on your ability to sell or receive payments from sales on our platform.
  • Annual 1099-K Form Issuance: In accordance with IRS requirements, we will issue a Form 1099-K to sellers who meet or exceed the reporting threshold. For the current tax year, the threshold is $600 in total gross payments within the calendar year, regardless of the number of transactions.
    • What You Will Receive: If your sales on our platform total $600 or more during the year, you will receive a Form 1099-K summarizing your gross payment amounts.
    • Delivery Timeline: Form 1099-Ks will be issued by January 31st of the following year, as mandated by the IRS.
    • Electronic Delivery: To expedite the process, we will provide your 1099-K form electronically by email. Ensure your contact information is up to date to receive important notifications.
  • Seller Responsibility for Income Reporting: While we provide the 1099-K form for qualifying sellers, it is your responsibility to report your income accurately on your tax return. Please consult with a tax professional to understand your specific tax obligations.
  • Compliance and Data Security: We prioritize the security and confidentiality of your personal information. All submitted W-9 forms and tax documents are stored securely and handled in compliance with data privacy regulations.

6. Prohibited Items
Remnants is a marketplace for preowned, and/or gently used arts and crafts supplies only. Sellers who violate the prohibited items policy will be removed.

We do not allow the sale of:

  • Supplies purchased new at wholesale
  • Goods and supplies that are not meant for arts and crafts use
  • Completed arts and crafts: ex. upcycle or other art projects

For the safety and satisfaction of our community, sellers may not list the following:

  • Items prohibited by law or regulation
  • Items infringing on intellectual property rights
  • Other items may be prohibited such as certain age-restricted products, counterfeit goods, or other restricted categories based on our community Terms of Service policy.

Please review our Terms of Service Policy for further details.

    7. Policy Updates
Remnants reserves the right to update this Seller Policy as needed to reflect changes in laws, tax obligations, or other business practices. Sellers will be notified of any material changes to the policy. Remnants reserves the right to remove sellers from the platform at any time, for violations of these or other policies, terms and conditions.

By listing products on Remnants, you agree to abide by these terms and conditions. Thank you for being a part of our marketplace and for contributing to a positive, trustworthy experience for buyers and sellers alike.
